It's about 4:30 in the morning and still up. We are finishing the Bayani newsletter in the office after having finished pre-judging the photos for the GK national photo competition.
That's cramming from one day of no work due to typhoon Milenyo. The typhoon that hit Metro Manila hard last September 28, Thursday, literally wiped out the GK houses being built at the SM Mall of Asia grounds. First it uprooted the structures then disintegrated them in mid-air so I was told by our Shelter team. Milenyo swept the homes into the sea, that is, Manila Bay.
The aftermath of the storm was total destruction with two men injured and debris scattered all around. But i would want to agree with sir Thomas Alva Edison, (he was quoted as saying when his years of work were destroyed in a fire ), "All our mistakes are burned up, thank God, we can start anew."
I know God has better plans and the lesson learned here is not to keep our guards down because it really is a spiritual battle and we must depend on God's strength and not our own. The battle is the Lord's and the victory is His!
Today, we start anew. We start from whatever was left behind, which to some can mean, from scratch. But we carry the hopes of the country so we won't be giving up. Hope is alive amidst adversities. We build again because the best way to overcome destruction is to create. We build again for those who have lost hope. We must stand again with courage and resilience to help the country see...that it must continue to rise and stand up again despite all its challenges. It must not give up on its dreams of a better tomorrow. Because hope is alive. Hope makes all things possible.
We will rebuild the expo grounds in 7 days, with God's amazing grace. and He will surely show His power and might for the world to see. and so we must know that it is not by our strength, but by God alone that all these things are possible.
Please join us and the whole country in celebrating the heroism of the ordinary Filipino...with the "Power of We" we can rebuild this nation together, you can bet on it. you won't know unless you try...and try again.
do not give up. we will not, because we believe our country will rise again.
calamities will happen, pain cannot be escaped, but the Filipino spirit can never be killed, only silenced. It's time for your voice be heard.
Be counted.

Heart Song:
I am pressed but not crushed
Persecuted, not abandoned
Struck down but not destroyed
I am blessed beyond the curse
For His promise will endure
His joy is gonna be my strength
Though the sorrow may last for the night
His joy comes with the morning!
-- Trading my Sorrows, a Praise Song
